Nathaniel is 10 Months!

10 months.  As in 2 away from a year old!  These monthly posts seem more and more ridiculous to me each time I write them.  I've already started planning his party in my head.  It's just all happening too fast!

At 10 months, Nathaniel is still a munchkin.  He is still wearing mostly 6-month onesies and pants.  He can still fit in size 2 diapers, but I ran out and didn't want to buy more since he probably will outgrow them soon, so most days he wears ill-fitting size 3 diapers.  I hate the diaper in-between stages.  He wears 9-month jammies, though.  Baby sizes will never make sense to me.

He is a speed crawler, and can pull himself up on anything super fast.  If he's distracted with food or a toy, he can stand on his own for a short time, until he realizes it and sits down.  He loves to play with everything that I don't want him to play with.  He loves to open the kitchen cabinets and drawers, and he loves to pull the DVDs off the shelf.

He still has just two little shark teeth, but he's been acting really weird and screaming in his sleep, so I think he might be close to cutting another tooth.  He keeps licking his top lip and his top gums and biting down weirdly.

His favorite toys are his Fisher Price singing puppy thing, the singing puppy car, plastic Easter eggs, old cell phones, my cell phone, computers, and a stuffed monkey thing Krissie bought him before he was born.

He generally enjoys riding in the car again, which is great, since he's in the car at least twice a day, every day.  He sits back there with his cell phone and monkey, and tells stories.  He talks so much and it's hilarious.  He'll even pick up books and "read" them to himself.  He still says his normal repeated sounds, but he's added the "t" and "k" sounds and just says random things that he probably thinks are real words.

He loves to sit on his knees with his little feet under his bum while he plays with toys.  It's adorable.

He claps now, mostly when he is eating.  He also high-fived me twice the other day, but now he won't do it again.

He's doing better at daycare.  Most days he doesn't cry when I drop him off.  He still won't take a good nap, but at least he drinks all of his milk and plays happily with toys.  Two days in, he came home with a runny/stuffy nose, and it hasn't gone away.  He has no other symptoms, and his snot is clear, so I'm not worried.  But he passed it on to me and I got it much worse for like two weeks.

He still screams like a banshee when we put him in his crib for bed and when he wakes up.  He just stands there with big tears rolling down his cheeks like you've done something really horrible to him.  I think it's the daycare thing.  He's gotten way more cranky lately.

Even though he still sucks at naps, he's doing really well at night.  Once he cries himself to sleep, he generally sleeps from 8 until at least 4 am.  Many times he makes it to 6 without waking up.  When he wakes up at 4, it doesn't take much to get him back to sleep until 6:30 or 7.

He's still nursing really well when we're at home, and loves food.  And snacks.

Here are some recent pictures of my little man:

His favorite book.
He just loves books!
He loves to sit like this.
Ready for 3rd grade!  Auntie Krissie's classroom.
This is what happens when you won't nap all day at daycare.
He loves fruit!
Heyyyyy!
It was this big!

  1. Goodness 10 months!!! Very exciting. I'm sorry the whole daycare thing isn't going as well as hoped. It will get better and he'll get more use to it. He's such a cute little guy. I bet he's the stud of his daycare group =)
