At 12 months, Nathaniel:
- Weighs 19 lbs 7 oz (5th percentile)
- Stands 29 inches tall (25th percentile)
- Is in the 75th percentile for head size (can't remember the measurements)
Most of what he says is total gibberish, but I know it has meaning. He will point at a light and give me some really long story about it. He will look at the wall and tell it stories. I swear he tells jokes all the time, and he talks with his hands. He says "uh-uh" (uh-oh) when he drops things, waves and says "be be" (bye-bye), "dad," "dog," "mama," and his most common phrase is non-stop repeating "doompadoompadoompadoompadoom." It kinda sounds like he's saying Dumbledore, and I love it! Sometimes he nods his head and says "mmhmm" when you ask him questions. He is starting to listen to me more and will grab things when I ask him to, like books, stuffed dogs, and rubber ducks. And he will point to Dada.
Even though he started taking steps on his own at 11 months, he's been very hesitant to develop that skill. I think the head size versus body size has something to do with this... But, over the past week or so, he's taken it up a notch and is walking across rooms and walking more than he was before. Pretty soon I think he'll start picking walking over crawling more.
He loves to hold cell phones up to his ear and say "eh?" Sometimes he even continues the conversation in his own language, usually on car rides. He also loves to turn lights off and on.
He also loves to try and put hats on his head. When he fails, he starts crying. He thinks everything is a hat.
He likes to stop nursing, lean back, and gargle the milk. And then laugh.
Lately, when he gets upset, he does his little sad face, starts sobbing, and puts his head down. Whether he's laying on the floor, or standing next to a chair, he will bury his face.
He wears size 3 diapers, 9 and 12 month jammies, and a range of 6-12 month onesies and pants.
He had some whole milk with dinner last night and guzzled it down.
He had a lot of fun at his birthday party, which I'll post about later.
A year!!! Unbelievable. He is such a funny little man. I looove his little curl and cheesy smile and laugh the most. Cute baby. I love him! Can't wait for the birthday party recap!
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize he was so small! But very impressive how much he can talk already. Also I love his long, curly hair. Little jealous of that
