Nathaniel Lately (14 Months)

Nathaniel is a wild child.  He loves to run.  He dives head first into everything.  He loves to climb.  He hits himself in the head with his toys, pulls his hair, gags himself, and pokes himself in the eye.  He loves to hit me in the face, pull my hair, bite me, and stick his fingers in my eyes.  He loves dogs, but I think he may have an allergy.  He loves to be outside.  He loves tractors.  He loves balls, especially the big red balls in front of Target.  He loves books.  He loves cords, outlets, toilets, vacuums, trees, the washer, and trash cans.  He loves to hide and play peek-a-boo.   He closes any doors that are open, including the baby gates.  He loves to try and put his own socks and shoes on.  He loves to try and feed himself with a spoon.  He loves to dance whenever any music comes on.  His favorite song is the ABC's.  He loves all bread and crackers, especially animal crackers.  He's getting pretty good at climbing stairs and has no fear going down them.  He trips constantly, but gets right back up.

He also loves to run up to me with his arms outstretched to give me big hugs and occasional kisses.  He loves to bring a book to me and sit on my lap.  He loves to nurse.  He loves to laugh and giggle and he loves to be tickled.  He loves to go out in public and smile and wave at random people.  He loves to see and point at (and grab) the pictures of the Apostles in the hallway at church, especially Elder Bednar.

He still wears size 3 diapers and 12-month clothes.  He wears size 4 shoes.  He's working on his 9th tooth.

He talks non-stop.  A lot of it is gibberish, but he says a lot of actual words too.  Most people wouldn't know the difference between "dog" and "duck," but I do, and he knows what he's saying.  I need to write down all the words he says so I can look back one day and remember.  So I'll write them on my blog.  He says:
  • da (dog)
  • duh (duck)
  • dah (dad)
  • dah, dah, dah, dah (dance, while dancing)
  • ball
  • beh (belly)
  • book
  • He attempts "blueberry" and "Brown Bear"
  • lie (light)
  • hat
  • up
  • uh-uh (uh-oh)
  • mama
  • he said "mommy" once, but probably won't repeat it for a while
  • he barks like a dog
  • when asked what a cow says, he says "booooo"
  • boo (peek-a-boo)
  • boom (after fireworks)
  • bwoon (balloon)
  • my father-in-law says Nathaniel said "Jesus" at church
  • baba (not sure about this one, maybe Pop Pop?)
  • ma (usually means "more", or "give me that food/drink")
  • buh-bye
  • yeah
  • shoes
  • na, na, na (no, no, no)
  • wuzat (what's that?  I think...)
He's such a little boy!

  1. oh my gosh!!! Liam loves the balls outside of target!!! he gets to excited when we pull into the parking lot and will immediately say ball, ball ball!!! And screams it as we are walking up. I saw like a two year old doing it this weekend so apparently they wont grow out of it for a while. liam has to touch it or else he'll throw a fit.
how are our babies toddlers right now? it's so weird!
